Don’s custom copperplate engravings are transferred to fine art paper with a time-consuming method of engraving that utilizes a hand-printing press. After custom-inking each plate, Don wipes the ink off the surface of the plate, puts a piece of pre-moistened printing paper on the plate, covers it with three specially-woven pads and pulls it through the hand press. The end result is the inked plate has been transferred to the paper.
MEDIUM: Each print is created on 400 gsm cold-pressed handmade 100% cotton paper from Twin Rocker out of Brookston, Indiana.
Each engraving has been created at a specific size, so hand-transferred prints are one-size only. This print is 10 x 8 inches.
